Barrington Brissett.
Barrington Brissett is a NY native artist and published writer of Jamaican descent. Through his work Barrington wants black people to feel seen and valued, often referring to his art as a love letter to his culture. His work discusses black history, folklore, and customs that span the african diaspora. His work also recognizes how significant black creativity is in current pop culture, giving homage to black creatives' influence in music, films, fashion and comics. While his preferred medium is acrylic paint, Barrington is adept in other mediums such as oil, fabric and leather, creating any surface into a canvas.
In his career so far Barrington has showcased his work in exhibits and pop ups in Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. He has also partnered with theatre production company on multiple occasions creating original art for their shows. Outside of being an artist, Barrington is also an art educator, teaching the fundamentals of drawings at non profits centers. Art and education are mutually significant to the NY based artist.
